1. Introduction
Divvl LLC (“Divvl,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates divvl.com and the Divvl estate planning application (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

4. How We Share Your Information
Within your estate
Estate administrators can see all item data, rankings (after a round is finalized, or immediately if anonymous ranking is disabled), allocation results, and audit logs. Family members see their own rankings and allocation results. Observer-role users (such as attorneys or accountants) may be granted read-only access to allocation data by the estate administrator.
Third-party service providers
We share data with the following processors to operate the Service:
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Data storage and authentication | supabase.com/privacy |
| Vercel | Application hosting | vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery | resend.com/privacy |
| Google (Gemini) | AI-assisted item identification from room photographs | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Anthropic | AI-assisted item value estimation | anthropic.com/privacy |
Each provider is contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
Legal requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Divvl LLC, our users, or others.
Business transfers
If Divvl LLC is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified via email or a prominent notice on divvl.com.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data based on your subscription plan:
| Plan | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Free | 90 days from last activity, plus 30-day grace period |
| Standard | 2 years from estate creation |
| Pro | 4 years from estate creation |
| Estate | Indefinite — data is retained as long as an admin logs in at least once every 12 months. A 30-day deletion warning is sent after 12 months of inactivity. |
Photographs are deleted at the end of your plan's retention period. Text records (item details, allocation results, audit logs) are retained through the full 7-year maximum for legal documentation purposes, regardless of plan.
You will receive a 30-day warning before any data is deleted. You may export all your data at any time through the Service.
When you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encrypted data storage via Supabase
- Authentication tokens with expiration
- Access controls limiting who can view estate data
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your information.
7. Photographs and AI Processing
When you upload photographs to the Service, those images may be processed by third-party AI providers (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude) solely to generate item descriptions and value estimates. We do not use your photographs to train AI models. Photographs are stored securely and deleted according to the retention schedule in Section 5.
